Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi

I found these pictures on google:

http://www.hopperhome.com/rabbit_digestion.htm

Hope this helps.

The pictures are very good of NORMAL caecotrophs & waste poops. Your bun should eat all the caecs, except on very rare occasions. Sometimes they'll stop eating them for a short time if you change their food.
"Stasis", basically means that the gut has stopped working, or isn't working properly. If your bun stops pooping or starts to distend - belly suddenly gets bigger & harder, it's an emergency.

I simply suggest that you get to know what is normal for your bun. The amount of poops per day, shape, colour, size & smell. You can even get an idea of your bun's normal tummy gurgles by lying beside him with your ear to his tummy. If there's a noticeable change, you can usually get an answer on here, from someone whose had experience of stasis within an hour.
It helps the vet if you take a sample of the last waste poops & abnormal poops to the consultaton.
