Straw or Blanket

tkdkat

Young Bun
What to put in the cage itself straw, blanket or just newspaper?

Will have a box for straw in the run to eat, plus a hay tunnel and a litter tray just outside the cage by the step

In this hot weather you may find newspaper is enough, of course a blanket or towels or vet bed are nice and comfy but care must be taken to see that they aren't being chewed as this could cause a blockage.

You need to give hay to eat though not straw.

Also, unless they are "pygmy" rabbits I would remove the "houses" as they are rather small to be of any use.

Do you have a lid for the runs? They are low enough to be easily jumped.

Sorry I meant Hay, always get the two mixed up. Yeah there's a roof for both runs which doubles up for an outdoor run..

Ah, right and when the roof is on is the headroom at least 2 foot so bunnies can stand up on their back legs?

Anything that is deep enough to cushion their feet when they are sitting at rest! So either deep hay and litter, or thickly padded towels/blankets. A hard flat surface at all times is not suited to bunny foot anatomy :)
