Looking to get new companion for bunny (guinea pig just died)

Looking to get new companion for bunny (guinea pig just died). We had them both as babies, never had a problem-they both got on. Unforunately our guinea pig suddenly died other week.

The vet recommended getting him another friend, as its be known for rabbits to die of depression when their companion has died.

Our question is:
We would like a bunny friend for him ( He has a head tilt, is happy bunny, kept indoors in hutch, flips occasioanly due to head tilit)

Should we get him a friend:?
If so should we get a female and spay or a male ?

and the best way to introduce them

Please let us know your thoughts, thanks

How old is your bunny and has he been neutered? I would get him a neutered female rabbit of the same sort of age. A rescue is a good place to go as they neuter and vaccinate their rabbits and they would be able to tell you the rabbits temperment and it would of already been checked over by a vet. They may even do the bonding for you too. Where abouts are you?

hi peewee is about 2years old now, we wouldnt want him to be neutered with his head tilit. The vet told us to get a baby, smaller than him. we have had bad experiences with rescue centres in the past, so would rather adopt from somebody or buy one.

It makes sense to rescue a bunny, but the rescue centres near us want blood out a stone and are muppets..(we previously tried to adopt a dog) and consequently we ended up getting one of their head dog handler staff sacked due to malpractice.- a dog got injured due to her incompetence

We are based in Blackpool

there a few rescues on here who will allow you to adopt rabbits, the rescue does not have to be local. Bunnyruns can be arranged. The only trouble with buying a rabbit from someone is that most of the time they are only intrested in making a quick buck and dont really care about the rabbits intrest. Also you dont know what you are getting and the bonding may not work, least with a rescue you can give the bun back if it didnt work out. It is up to you though, do what ever you feel suits best.
