Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Personally I would get him to a Vet today. He may need his bladder manually expressed and if he has oedema he may need additional medication too.
I would certainly not wait til Tuesday to get a Vet to examine him.

I'm sorry your rabbit is still poorly.
Can you remind us what tests the specialist did? I know e.c. was tested for but what about kidney parameters?
Were kidneys, bladder and urethra xrayed and was anything found?
ETA: not weeing (anuria) is a medical emergency As Jack's Jane said, he will need to see a vet today

Yep oedema/fluid retention peripherally is a worry, diuretics may be needed. Definitely needs to see vet ASAP.
BTW that's a guess....don't know if diuretics appropriate in buns....

Little Thumper update

Hi just got back from vet, manually emptied Thumper's bladder, gave him anti biotic jab and medicine to carry on with, he was concerned about the fluid retention in is foot and leg incase it got infected, was very concerned about his weight, said better of the two evils with bladder sludge to put him back on pelets and veg to get his weight back up, said if he has no weight he will get his enegy from muscle tissue which is not good for kidneys. Poor little fella don't know how much more he can take, although since we got back he seems more mobile he is happy grazing in the garden with his girlfriend Blackberry.

Cheers once again, don't know what i'd do without all your help.

Hi Thanks for reply, yes his bladder was x rayed which shown inflated bladder (it was huge) was advised to give him just hay and water which of course I've been told today to change back to pellets and veg cause he's lost so much weight.

cheers

Hi, oh dear poor bunny:( Sounds like your vet and you are doing your best, that's all you can do.
Just in case it's any help, my book on rabbit nutrition by vet Virginia Richardson says with buns with bladder sludge/stones to avoid veggies high in calcium these are (from book) chinese cabbage, watercress, kale, dandelions, parsley and spinach. You should also avoid those that contain phosphorous in large amounts: carrots (not tops - they're fine), tomatoes and bananas.
Hope your bunny gets well soon :)

Ooh, poor bun, that must have been uncomfortable. Imagine being desperate for a wee and unable to go.
Do you know whether he passed any stones when they unblocked him?
If he has stones/sludge blocking the urethra it may keep happening so he may require an operation at some stage xx
