Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny seems a bit off colour

Bramble had a bit of a bad day yesterday. Normally he is very bouncy, but seemed very down and didn't even spend much time hopping around the garden before getting back in his house.

He didn't eat all his pellets either, which is unheard of usually! He did eat other things though - including hay! (Shock)

I though maybe it was just because it was a hot day. Then I started to worry it was his teeth, but I checked all around his jawline and he didn't protest in anyway.

My other half noticed this morning that he slighty leaned his head to one side. Now I'm worried it might be an ear infection.

He seems much bouncier today though.

Maybe I am worrying about nothing. I guess we all have our off days eh?

My four definitely have 'quiet' days, especially during hot weather. Has your bun been wormed as the slight head tilt could be an indication of either an ear infection or EC?

A bunny that is 'off' and not eating as well as normal needs a vet check as they can go downhill very rapidly. It could be any number of things.

if he used to like pellet, and stop eating it, that's a strong sign that something is wrong.

did you use an otoscope to inspect the inside of the mouth?

At this pt., I would go w/ a rabbit specialist vet

Thanks for all your advice. Bramble seems to be much better, and I am now thinking that it was just the weather. I shall be keeping a very close eye on him though.

Yesterday he was as bouncy as anything! Eating all his food, and anything else he could find to munch on in the garden!

If it's any comfort, mine has "iffy" guts. Minimal slow down with the heat although he doesn't have warm ears, he's losing heat by breathing a bit faster (so needs more water) & not wanting to run around which heats him up. Short periods of being marginally off his food, he knows to increase his fiber. I'm watching poop output, size colour & shape like a hawk, as well as fluid intake. No need for intervention yet.

Sounds crackers but he increases fiber by eating fresh hawthorn leaves + stems - at least a bit of water content. Reckon he takes "leafy greens" too literally!
