Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Smelly Urine & odd behaviour ...

Cormat

New Kit
Ok guys need your advice!

My little bun's behaviour has changed pretty dramatically over the past few months. Always perfectly litter trained she now seems to have no control of where she goes, she pee's anywhere and drops little poos wherever she walks. More recently she's started humping everything from table legs, handbags to friends feet! She was neutered in her first year, she's now 5 but seems to have reverted to her baby behaviour. Also, this weekend her urine absolutely stinks. I've never smelt anything like it, its so strong and almost fishy! Gross! She's had no change to diet or anything.

Any ideas what could be causing this?!

Maybe she has a Urinary Tract Infection
I would take her to your Vet as any inexplicable behavioural changes can indicate a health problem.

A wee update ... took SJ to the vet on Monday, explained all changes in behaviour, she asked me to bring her a urine sample today which i did. She then called me a few hours later and asked me to bring SJ to the clinic tomorrow morning for tests as she does not think the kidney funtion is working effectively and this could be the cause of the change in behaviour.

... shall update again tomorrow incase any of your rabbits experience the same!

Its good that your Vet is being thorough and I hope he/she can find out what is wrong.

Good luck
