  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Diarrhea- help!

Snowberry

Wise Old Thumper
Sorry cross post but I really need some help

Snowdrop has always had oddly shaped poos since we had her. Most days they are fairly large but she also gets quite soft poos if she eats alot of veg.

Today she has had a few carrot tops which I dont think I have given her before and now she has a little bit of diarrhea. Its not alot but how much of an emergency is this? I have never had a bun with it before.

Could there be an underlying condition that is causing her to have so many poo problems or is it just a reaction to the carrot tops? She is fine in herself and eating well.

it's just too much green. If you stop giving the green, the soft poo should stop. Do a 7 day hay only diet will work nicely.

If the soft poos doesn't stop, then you need to see a vet. But you should be fine without the vet.

Thanks. She hasnt had any more over night and is still fine in her self. She is eating as normal. I have put her on a hay only diet for a few days.
