  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Insurance...

There are only two companies I think, Petplan and Exotics direct. I use petplan but have never made a claim so far. They do give you a discount on multiple pets, but it's not huge :)

Thank you. PetPlan quoted me 33.72 a month for 3 bunnies

With Petplan. 2 buns for £20.84 per month. bout 248 a year i think.

!st year no change but went up couple of £ per month last month on the renewal. Our excess went up by £5 as well!!:?

They best not keep doing that!

I'm with pet plan and pay about £9, a month. They've been great (so far) with claims I've made for an illness that has been going on for 6 months now- we could never have afforded the vet bills otherwise. I just realised though that they have two plans- one that is kind of basic, and another which is 'for life'. I think the difference is that the budget one they will only pay up for one year on the same illness. I'm going to check which one I'm on, cos still haven't got a solution to bun's runny nose. Dread to imagine what my premium will be next year...
