Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

EC bunny

My bunny Flopsy has EC. She is currently 1 week into her panacur course and she is on Metacam. She has recently been having a problem with her back legs and dragging them. However the past few days she seemed to be improving greatly which I was so pleased about. But today she is dragging her legs again. Is this normal for her to be starting this again?? Also i was wondering what I could use on her cage floor as she has stopped using her litter tray. She is an indoor bun and has a dog cage as a base, she never gets locked in it as she has free range of my dining room. I have been putting megazorb and hay down where she has been weeing, but its so messy and gets stuck to her. Im now considering putting a towel down with fleece on top and changing it every free days. Any ideas to what would be best??

I hope Flopsy is feeling better soon.

I am fighting the same battle. I used fleece for a while, but have recently changed to vet bed. Its very absorbant so soaks up pee well. I am then using hay and carefresh or megazorb at the other end of the cage.

I hope your bunny feels better soon to. Its an awful thing this ec.

Thanks for the advice on vet bed. I will get some from my local garden centre and give that a go. Its just that without anything on the bottom of the cage Flopsy ends up wet with pee.

Thank you.

I found that a lot with Flynn too. He was soaked with pee and miserable no matter how much i cleaned and dried him. I found normal fleece made him smell and other bedding stuck to him like you said. Vet bed, though dear, works a treat. I hope you find it works well for too.
