  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

when i got my rabbits i took them to the vets ive always used(for my dogs),upto yesterday ive had no problems with them as ive only ever taken the rabbits for there injections..they have been realy healthy and fine upto now(fingers crossed).
anyway yesterday blue went in for is neutering i had asked that they trim his nails why he was there.
dropped him off at 830 with his food/water/hay etc, phoned at 1230 all had gone ok.then went to pick him up at 4.i asked if everything was ok..it was..she told me not to put him back with the female for 3 weeks !!
i asked about his nails to be told they had taken a tiny amount of..but she said realy you shouldnt cut rabbits nails!!
then i asked for an appointment for ruby and the babies so they could be checked over and sexed, when i told her they were 8 weeks she said the vet couldnt sex them until they were 4 months old!
needless to say i have found another vet who is fantastic she checked and sexed the babies this morning and has two rabbits of her own..any too top it off is much cheaper than my old one!
