Urgent help needed!

I'm not sure if any of you have seen biscuitandmatt1 thread ?

Her internet connection has gone down and she has a sick bunny and needs advice - I have just spoken to her and she thinks he may have broken his front paw - he has had pain relief.

Her main problem is that she is not confident in her emergency vet - Please does anyone have a recommendation for a rabbit savvy vet near Middleton in Manchester????

She is waiting on a response before taking him to her vet - but would rather have a vet in the know. Her usual vet is open in the morning.

Anyone?????

I have not been to these guys, but Elaine at Tameside rabbit rescue and a few other guys on her recommended

http://www.rcvs.org.uk/Templates/Sy...812&PracticeNodeID=374309&SearchType=practice these guys are supposed to be the dogs watsits

Which emergency vets did she go to? the one my vets is linked to is in Salford, which is no good for me, but also try phoning up some from the yellow pages, they might do their own emergency cover.

I hope the little guy is OK!

I can't suggest anything I'm afraid as we both use the same vet. :?

I hope she manages to sort something out tonight, and then can get an appointment with Aiden in the morning.

Just spoken to her again and he is moving around on it and is eating an pooing. She is going to keep an eye on him, if he looks worse she will call her emergency vet, but her vet is open at 8am.

Ref another vet, I called my emergency vet for opinion and they told me that if the vet is her registered emergency vet another vet is not obliged to see her and they recommended she talk to her own vet first.

Sounds like he is coping with whatever it is, but she is a worried bunny mummy bless her!

Her number is 01616537839 if anyone can offer any more advice.

Thanks

Jx

If he is moving around on it ok then it may not be broken...

However, if she were certain that it was, metacam will not be a strong enough painkiller so he should see the vet tonight rather than tomorrow.

Hopefully he will have just sprained it!!

My RSPCA recommended a Rabbit Specialist vet in Chorlton ...that's who they use - if she wants to find out who it is please ask her to ring Salford and Machester RSPCA and ask which vet this is in Chorlton.

If she can't find out and needs to know let me know and Ill try to find out asap - but it's not far from her I don't think

Hope this helps a little - hope the bunny gets better!

thanks for these links.

briar dawn vets looks good but use the same 24 hour emergency vets as i go to now, the one in bury.

petmedics walkden is about 20 minutes away, the same as bury is, so i might try there if i ever need to go again.

my rabbit vet now is ashleigh vets whalley range, and we travel 40 minutes to get there. their out of hours vet is in salford and in an emergency i think 40 minutes might be a bit too far.

who are the vets at briar dawn and petmedics walkden that people use? i looked on the sites but it doesn't say who is the bun vet.

just an update on bisc. he is ok now. he pulled his nail and bruised his toe so he is on pain relief for 5 days and the nail should heal itself. he is acting completely fine. he worried me last night when he wouldn't walk and then just refused to move or eat. i gave him pain relief and then he was fine. the vet gave him a thorough check up this morning and he is fine. except the torn nail bed obv!

i always feel better when they've had a full check up. matt had one aswell whilst we were there, and the vet checked everything and all is well so that's great. :)

Sorry didn't see this thread before. Glad Bisc is doing ok now

I've not yet had to use the emergency vet (crosses fingers) but my vets use the one in Bury too. Are they rubbish? Would be good to know best emergency vet in the area just in case.

Loads of vibes that little Bisc's paw is completely better very soon

You would have to use Petmedics 24hr Emergency clinic at Wardley Swinton. Their Tel number is 0161 794 4999. They do have a couple of vets that are orthopedic specialists and I am sure one of them is on this weekend it is either Bruce or Paul. If they are on you can always tell them I recommended you see them:D.
Hope bun is feeling better

These vets are called Ashlea and they don't do out of hours they use mine for that. Also I am sure that the rabbit savvy vet they had as moved somewhere else:roll:

sorry, just seen this.

i wouldn't recommend the one in bury to be honest.

i don't particularly like any of the vets i've seen, and they haven't been very knowledgeable about rabbits either.

also, there is one there who picked my buns up by their scruffs, and another who basically told me i haven't looked after them properly if they have snuffles. :(

i had to take my piggies there last week unfortunately, and it was the 'scruff' man again, and he kept comparing pigs to cats and saying information i knew to be wrong!

this is just my opinion from my experiences there though. others may have had better dealings with them.
