  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

bisc is quiet and won't eat. i think he has gone into stasis. the vet has given me metacam, maxolon and zantac to treat with at home. do i give all three at once? the amounts are on there except the metacam. bisc has had 0.8ml in the past though.

the only thing that is weird is that he is trembkling/vibrating when you touch around his body.

can someone ring me

You give metacam when there is something in the stomach, say you can forcefeed some baby food, or fruit (such as blackberry) mix w/ hay stem to get something in the stomach first

You can give all 3 at once.

Did you vet check for any blockage in the stomach, ie. bloat?

Metacam at 0.8 ml is very high to me. My bridge bun was 5KG and we only use 0.63 ml to 0.8 ml or so.

My bun Bernie is 2.2KG and we use 0.13 ml

Over here, the vets use this formula

dosage (in ml) = weight in KG x 0.1 / 1.5
