  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
Our rabbit has finally had her first litter. She's built a great nest which is right at the back of the hutch under the stairs so I can't see into it - only I can see it moving! How do I know whether she is feeding them properly? They were born about 48 hours ago. My book says not to disturb them for at least 5 days.

hi cumbria rabbits only normally feed the kits once a day normally a night .its normal for her to be away from the nest alot as this is how it is in the wild if your doe is pre occupied with a carrot etc you can rub your hands a little on some nest fur and gently separate the fur at the top of the nest to check kits are moving about etc :D

Thanks for that. The kids have been waiting for baby bunnies for ages now and so far I've managed to keep it from them but wont be able to for much longer! I said we would have one litter and then have all the rabbits neutered.
