  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bit of an odd one

leggy

Young Bun
I have 2 french lops. I was going to breed them but due to seeing so many looking for homes changed my mind :( Female is now past a yr so im getting her (speyed) Would the entire male still try to have his way if i was to then put them together? The male is now in my rose garden which is large and has my turtle pond and tortoise run :) The female is in the othere garden and i think both are lonely

Well done for deciding not to breed:thumb:

although once your female is spayed they will not be able to breed the male will still continually mount her and bother her unless he is also castrated. it will take a few weeks after castration for his homones to die down as well :)

Ok thank you. Will get my male done. Another thing is im now using dog houses so they can come and go as they like and just shutting them in when dark is that ok:) I wont to get it right as i would like to re home another big bunny and make a trio. Will get a pic of my boy in his garden later :D

Sounds ideal. There are loads of giants waiting for homes at Tameside Rescue ;)
Deffinitely agree with sterilising both male and female, purely for behaviourial reasons :)
