  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advice on Neutering

Alpha Buck
I have two young lionheads Charlie and Poppy (male and female).

Charlie is 14 weeks old and Poppy is 10 weeks old.

My question is when should I separate them - Charlie is currently showing no interest in Poppy 'in that way' :oops:and I am keeping an eye on them.

I'm sure I had my old bun Sammy neutered when he was 6 months old but it was 10 years ago and can't quite remember.

I luckily have the facilities to keep them separate.

I'm not sure but I would just seperate them now anyways. You can get boys neutered from 3 month and girls from 4 I think.

I think you should seperate them now to be on the safe side. Boys can be neutered as soon as their plums drop, which could be any time soon. Alfie was neutered at about 16 weeks. :)

I'd definately seperate them now.

Charlie is likely to be fertile and in a couple of weeks its possible Poppy could be too.
