Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Trembling Bunny

Jane Parry

Young Bun
On Saturday night I noticed that one of my bunnies, Indy, was not looking 100%. He seemed to be trembling constantly. He was sitting quietly in his box and would not come out and when I put my hand on him it was like he was vibrating. I did wonder whether he was trying to fight off something? I took him upstairs overnight and checked him and he's been fine ever since. But I am quite puzzled as I have seen this before but didn't know what it was.

Thanks

Jane

Glad your bunny is now okay. Its very difficult to determine what was wrong with him. Bunnies can go downhill very fast and, it is advised, to take any sick bunny immediately to the vet. Is he eating and drinking normally now? Are his poos normal?

Hi

Hibby did this once and we rushed her to the vets and by the time we got her there she was back to normal and not unwell at all. It was all really strange

Although not to long after her infection started, dont know if its connected but its worth keeping an eye on it incase you bunnies warning you :)

Hope that helpes a little x

Thanks for all your messages. It happened late at night of course (don't you find they are always poorly on Sundays and Bank Holidays when the vets are shut bless them).

Indy has seemed fine since. He lives indoors and is eating and drinking and his poos are healthy. In fact last night he was bounding around the house having a great time and running in and out of the covered cat bed so fingers crossed it won't happen again.
