Fur colour

Hi all,

This might be in the wrong place but I couldn't think where else to put it.

I adopted Harry from a friend, he's nearly 3, and he's an imperfect dark brown and white butterfly dwarf lop. Recently, his fur is starting to go ginger in patches and also his coat is looking a bit ruffled. I know he's not ill but is this normal moulting? Is there anything I can do to help? His hutch has lots of white furs in it and when I clean him out I can see he's definitely moulting! I just wonder if I should buy him a hair brush!

Is this normal for a rabbit to change colour ? If it's nice weather (like today) he's in his outdoor pen, which does have shade etc, so I'm guessing it's his summer coat colour?

Thanks all,
I really should upload a pic of him, he's so gorgeous I'm sure you'll all love him:love:

I think its just the seasonal changes in coat colour.

Its a good idea to brush them to remove loose fur so that they don't injest too much.

My bunny Smudge is white with brown bits on his ears, tail, face and paws he also changes colour when he moults and gets bits of brown in places where it used to be white! So it sounds similar to your bun :)

Rabbit stomach can have a lot of problem to digest the fur. It can block their intestine.

1) get a bowl of water
2) Wet your hand
3) gently comb your hand on the bunny's fur so your hand grab the fur off the bun

The above helps the fur to shed their fur and get rid off the fur so they can't lick on them. This way, neither your bun or his companion will get fur in their body

At the same time, buy some papaya & pineapple enzyme chew, give 2 tablet weekly, say one on Wed. and one on Sat., the enzyme will break down the fur in their stomach

You can also go w/ the idea of pineapple juice, if it's small bun, I would syringe feed 12 ml per bun once every 2 days or so
