Please spare a thought for Nessa in the morning/ back from vets

Hugo's There

Wise Old Thumper
Nessa is going for a health check in the morning

She is one of the Gloucestershire buns and has battled with poor health ever since she arrived. She has a number of facial abscesses which for various reasons we have decided against operating on. The third one at the side of her nostril is now extremely large and painful and I have been unable to clean it out.

We are hoping that the vet can offer us some way of making it more comfortable for Nessa but I am not really sure what else we can do for her. Given her past we do not want her to suffer in any way and would rather let her go too early than too late. We do not want her final memories to be of pain and suffering.

At the moment she is still very bright and lively, but it is taking her longer to eat indicating pain and her breathing and sneezing is deteriorating. The pus is draining more frequently through her mouth and nose. She is also finding it increasingly painful to have her face cleaned everyday :(

She is such a pretty girl, but you can see how badly swollen her face is in these pictures taken just a few minutes ago

Thank you :)

She has had over 3 very happy months that none of us expected her to have, so every day is a bonus for her.

In that time she has learnt a lot, most importantly that humans aren't all bad and that life can be fun.

At the end of the day you can't ask for more than that

Awww bless her Liz - I will be thinking of your brave girl tomorrow xxx

Sending extra special cuddles & vibes for her xxx

Thank you all for your kind thoughts :)

Nessa is back with us :) She has had the third abscess flushed and antibiotics injected directly into it.

Unfortunately there is a forth abscess underneath the third that is completely enclosed. There is no way to access it while she is conscious so we have no choice but to leave it :(

there is nothing else we can do for now except try to keep her comfortable with medication. But that is all we have been doing for her anyway and she has had over 3 months with us, so maybe she will get at least a few more happy months:)
