  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Tummy rubs - where?

~ Cat ~

Wise Old Thumper
Hi folks.

I know buns appreciate a tummy rub when they have tummy ache, but where is the best place to give them comfort?

I think I was rubbing the wrong bit with Lola as she kept on lifting ehr back end to me:shock::shock:

:shock::oops: lifting her rear end can help her get rid of "wind".There is a link to an article in the bloat/stasis post by Martine, and it suggests lifting their bottoms up when massaging to help get rid of "gas"

Yes it can be useful, really, because we dont know till it happens as it happened to Chloé and this is terrible to be there and wait for a sign, a bit of hay eaten, poos to come out... search in the litter and when they dont produce any or just little dry ones, the size of a mouse's poo ! I personally never tried massaging as I'm not sure of myself to do it and afraid of not doing it properly, as I never got anyone to show me how to do it..
