  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi again, our bad luck continues. Now it is our bunny girl Mýsla (rex 2.5 year old) who has some weird scabs in her fur. The vet thought it was some kind of fungal and gave us Griseovin (250 mg/5 ml) to give her 2-2.5 ml once a day for 14 days. Any idea what this could be? Is it mites? It started as small small white scabs on her back and then all of a sudden (in a matter of a few days) spots like this one came out. She doesnt seem to itch but doesnt like when we touch it... Any ideas please? And should we use Griseovin or go for Ivomectin or something? :(

Have you used any flea/pest guard recently? My rabbit had a reaction that looked like that when I used Frontline(? I think that's the name of the stuff?)

I think it was Frontline. I went back to the vet who'd prescribed it and he said he'd given a much too big dose... maybe that was his way of getting out of saying it was the wrong thing to have given him! Obviously after that, I changed vet! He was a real **** as well as obviously incompetent!
