  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My Rabbit is sneezing!

My Milly did this about a week ago, no discharge, just small sneezing fits every 15 minutes. Lasted for a day, and she's been fine since. I'd say definitely keep an eye on her, but wait to see if it clears on its own.

if there is no discharge, it can be allergy. My bun does that too. It can also be a respiratory tract infection. Is the diet normal? I would just observe your bun for the next 2 weeks. In the past 12 yr., all my buns had sneezed 1 time or another, none have any tract infection.

Have you changes hay or bedding? Perhaps theres something a bit more dust than usual? I have a large flowering tree in my garden and when its got all its blossom one of my bunnies sneezes, and she stops as soon as the trees lost all the blossom. Could it be something like that? I would say observe her for 24hours and if she doesn't stop, or if she develops a discharge get her checked out by your vet.
