  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Scabs

Ok so Truffle has a big scab on her back. I am worried as Bean persistently is trying to groom this? Is this ok?

Also, Truffles scab has a hard almost ridge in the middle of it. I am sure this is just how it has healed. Is this ok? Worried about abscess

Lastly, her scab also has some white bits in it. Thought this was a bit odd. We have kept checking the scab.

No idea where it has come from - possible injections from spay. however, it has become quite large. About size of 50p.

Poor girl. I am still quite worried about her...because thats what I do!

i would take her to the vet to get it checked out the white bits could be dead skin or could be a sign of infection take to vets to find out x

Yes she is going to the vets tomorrow - well Bean is actually going in for a dental so going to ask them to check her out too!

Does it matter that Bean is grooming it and cleaning it all the time do you think?

Gawd just worried about the little girl!

Put some tea tree cream on now. Poor girl - it looks so sore. I think the vets are going to think I am stoooopid for not bringing her in earlier!!!:oops::oops:

Only noticed Friday night though and Bean is in for dental tomorrow so she can get seen then.
