Best wood to use for hutches

As the title says, what is the best wood to use when making your own hutch?

I am wanting to build a big house for inside Eric and Ernie shed. It will only for them to go to bed at night, but I want a good quality wood in case they chew it.

Tanalised timber I would have thought?

I just use thick pine and protect the corners that they chew with metal cornering.
