Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Poor Litter Training or Medical Issue?

I've just been reading some threads about water intake for a rabbit, and I had a few concerns about my own little girl.

She is now about 4 months old and still unspayed. I noticed that she drinks about 200-300ml of water per day, yet she only weight .5kg. She also is not litter trained at all and pees and poos everywhere, despite my trying to litter train her.

I assume that the two are unrelated, but I am finding more and more issues with this little rabbit all the time. She seems perfectly normal otherwise. Is it possibly a loss of bladder control, meaning I should suspect something more sinister, or is it just her being hard to litter train at such a young age before spaying?

Im no expert, but ive read loads that some buns are better with the litter training after spaying.

a few of my buns had invented new spots thru out the years, eventhough they are all litter train. It means nothing.

But are you going to spay the bun? She is growing, so it's possible her water intake is higher than a full grow bun.

When i got Bernie, he drinks a lot of water, but now he sits at my house for over 1 yr., his water intake is down to normal
