Panacur Question

Now i know there are loads of panacur threads which is why i am getting confused :?. Frankie hasn't been treated for EC yet and i have loads of panacur paste so am going to start him on a course though i don't know for how long. The packet says 9 days but i was advised on here to do Fidget for 28 days as it was her first dose. It will also be Frankie's so should i do it for 28 days with him too? Do i need to do it every year for them both aswell?

My Vet currently advises a one off 28 day course and then only treat again if clinical symptoms of EC develope.
Apparently this is the most recent thinking amongst 'Rabbit Specialists' but dont hold your breath, the recommendations will probably change yet again !!
Repeated treatments risk the developement of Fenbendazole resistance

9 days is for worming.

4 weeks is for EC - but in a confirmed case my vet advises 6 weeks. Apparently panacur can't cure EC unless it's active. I routinely panacur my buns once a year after having an EC positive foster bun, & I panacur before neuter in foster buns as EC symptoms are more likely to strike when a bun's immune system is compromised (eg after illness/neuter). However, I have read that continual use can make it less effective, so it might be best to just worm your bun (9-14 days) unless you see any other symptoms of EC

So if they can become resistant to Panacur how ofter should they be wormed? My lot don't have EC as far as I'm aware and I use Panacur twice a year for 9 days each time. Is this enough/too frequent? Thanks

Does it still prevent/minimise risk though? Otherwise it's a bit useless, aside from worming.

Is that a 28 day course if in contact with EC?
6 weeks if clinical signs and symptoms?
no routine panacuring?

[omg this is confusing!!!]

My vet said to do a 28-day course, and then not do routine panacuring at all. He did say that it'll protect them for life, but I think that's probably untrue, and to just do the 28-day course again if symptoms appear.

My vet recommemded 6 weeks with an EC positive bun (blood tests etc), & that is what the manufacturers recommend - but some vets just say 4 weeks

The 9 days is still the recommended dose for worming only - it wouldn't do anything for EC
