The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Hocks-what's normal and what isn't?

Is it normal for a bun to have little circular patches of bald fur on their heels? Or is this the beginning of sore hocks? I just noticed it when she was hopping into her litter tray, I had a quick check and the skin isn't broken and is pink-there is no blister or anything. My other rabbit has no similar bald patches on his feet-I also noticed that the hair on is feet is a lot thicker.

The bun is kept v clean- she is a house bunny and the litter trays are changed everyday. I know that rexes are more prone to problems with their hocks-but she is a lop rabbit. I found this link which has been v helpful-so will check her feet often. http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?t=172259&highlight=sore+hocks

Hey,

She has had these ever since she came to us. They have never got sore. I do think it's cos she is not really a floppy bunny and spends a lot of her time hunched up when resting so is always on her feet.

Hope she's ok :( xxx

Ah ok! Her feet just look different to marley's so I was a bit worried, but it sounds like it's ok then! They are fine-they don't look sore and don't seem to bothering here, I will keep an eye on them then. Sorry to worry you!

Needed Paul here tonight when I lifted Marley to check his feet-he's still in a huff with me

She binkied for the first time since we got her today :love::love:

Lol! I'm exactly the same...more so with bella at the mo.

It was so great to see her like that-she is really coming out of her shell. This morning she was doing mad runs and binkies in and out of the bedroom :love:

Just keep eye on them. Is it where her elbow kinda bit would be? This is just pressure sores kinda like dogs get the skin may go harder there as its where the bun is constantly using its foot. Angel has little ones too. Carpet doesnt help as it wears them more bit like us and capet burns but thats nowt to worry about.
Only time to worry is when feet look red, sore or inflammed and losing alot of fur you'll know the difference then vet treatment is needed.
For pics of what I mean Winston has very bad feet http://www.hoppybunnyrabbit.com/health_checks.html although they look pretty good for him in this pic

Thank you-it's exactly where the elbow bit would be. I will keep a close eye on her feet.

Gosh poor Winston's little feet-bella's are very small compared to that.

I love your site btw! and winston and angel are gorgeous
