  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxi vac while ill?

Fudge was due her myxi at the end of march but didnt get it because she got ill and was on meds so i thought to leave it for a bit

She is on metacam for the next month and i dont want to wait that long to get her vaccs done, is it ok for her to get her vaccs while on metacam?

Just so i know its ok as she goes to a different vet for her myxi than the rabbit savvy vet

Thanks

Why is she on Metacam ?
The data information sheet states that only healthy animals should be vaccinated but my Vet will vaccinate some Rabbits on longterm meds depending on what the Buns problem(s) are.

I vaccinate my bunnies on long term metacam for disabilities such as spinal damage and mobility problems not caused by active EC but not buns on it for active ec or infections:)

I would definitely agree with that. I chose not to vaccinate when I had 2 house bunnies with long term EC-related issues and on daily Metacam, but I would have done if they had been on Metacam for mobility issues etc.

Shes on pain relief because of the roots of her teeth!
Im at the rabbit savvy vet tomorrow so will ask him what he thinks and just get her vaccinated with him!

I got Fuzzy vaccinated and he has a similar problem so it should be OK, always best to check with your vet though :)
