You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. White Flaky Hair loss

Hiya

My rabbit Will has had some white flaky hair loss on his back for a while and I don't know what has happened. He doesn't seem to be too bothered about it but he is quite bald in that patch and when I stroke him hair comes out. I don't know if it could be mites or some kind of skin condition or deficiency.
Any Help ??

Sounds like Cheyleitiella mites to me. A trip to the Vets and a course of Ivermectin should resolve things.
It would be a good idea for Will to have a general check up (including his teeth) as mites often occur in Buns that are generally 'run down' or in those that have Dental problems.

Good Luck

yeah sounds like what Jane says.. (can never remember how its spelt).. Simba has had them quite a few times and the ivermectin jabs seem to clear it up really well.. he usually has 3 jabs, one each week/10days. The vet has never found anything else wrong with Simba other than the mites, no dental probs or anything, he just seems to get them for some reason :?

Mostly all rabbits have these mites but as jane says its usually when they are run down the mites show up ;) Ivomec will zap them lol
