  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

serum therapy seems to be doing something!

bertie saw ellen today after his three vials of serum have bene just about used up. She took a look at his eye dying the eye with that yellow stuf to se the conreal ulcer better. she said its not better as such but its not colouring up green now and so is classed as inactive.....so it seems that maybe just maybe the serum therapy is working!!! yay!!!

so she drew yet more of his blood to turn into serum this morning and i had to collect it this afternoon.

hes such a good boy..didnt struggle at all taking blood and didnt make a fuss having his eye checked...didnt need holding down at all..i was so proud of him..my big brave boy xxxx

was funny actually because the receptionist helped hold the leg to access the vein and she aodres the soft old soul and was stroking him and she loves his feet and he lets her stroke his huge fluffy foots. then ellen was chexcking his ears and got carried away and spent ages smoothing both his ears stroking them for ages..he loved it..she blushed when we said se youc ant resist him now either:lol::lol:

bif was sat in the bunny mobile waiting for bertie..she realised she wasnt coming out to see the vet and relaxed.

the only problem is what is causing the ulcer and making it so resistant to healing. shes concerned it maybe a tooth root problem altho she cant feel anything along his jaw...its up to the ulcer now to decide to heal if it can..fingers crossed.
