Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Lump on bunny's head - please anyone?

 Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone could help? My partner and I were having a claw trimming session this evening, and as we were holding little Tommy, a minilop, I noticed he has quite a large lump on his head, just at the base of his ear. It is beneath the skin and quite hard - how you'd imagine a 'bump' on the head to look.

Hoping it's nothing too serious  Thanks. xx

Hi
Has he had a myxi jab recently? Sometimes some of the vaccine is given into the skin at the base of the ear and can cause a swelling?

If not, you're probably best off to the vets to get it checked out. I found a lump on my bun this weekend and she is having to have it removed tomorrow. Hope Timmy is ok.

Hi - no. I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before as it's quite big and Tommy is a house bun - only stroked him this morning  Please don't let it be an abscess ......... :(

It does sound rather like an abscess. I would take him to your Vet tomorrow

Good Luck
