salt water or hibiscrub ..update...back from vets

A solution of hibiscrub will help prevent infection.
Have you had it looked at by a vet in case it needs stitching?

its a little stray ...someone was out walking their dog...and the dog found the bunny ..unfortunatly the owner wasnt quick enough to stop the dog catching it ..:(

no not ruled out stitching yet ... need another pair of hands to check it over ...just waiting for Tracey to arrive to help.

sorry, wont be long, just waiting for bunnie and piggie pick ups

what would you consider the best option for bathing a dog bite on a rabbit ... :?

Depends where the bite is.
I'd probably use a dilute hibiscrub but I have known some Buns have an adverse reaction to it.
I have also used a dilute Betadine

Healing vibes for the poor Bunster

It's not been a dog bite, but we've had a pair of newly bonded buns here and when looking them over on check in I found a very nasty untreated puncture wound. Vet advised us to dilute hibiscrub or melaseb.

Hope your little stray will be ok

well i know its not the same but the vet told me to use diluted hibiscrub to prevent infection to peanuts abcess wound.

the poor little mite has just gone to the vets. his front teeth are growing all over the place, can't quite tell if the top ones are curled or growing back into his jaw :cry:

well just back from the vets ...poor little man has no front teeth at the bottom at all ...one of his top front teeth had broken off and the other had grown out and back into the inside of his cheek......:(

poor lad was very very stressed so vet quickly clipped the remaining tooth so that he could at least shut his mouth properly and hopefully eat .... :(
the piece he clipped off was nearly an inch long ..:(

we will give him a few days to recover ...or perhaps a week if he is managing to eat ... and then we will book him in for his remaining front teeth out ...

had wounds checked while there too and these are ok ...

he is now back in his hutch trying to get under the litter tray he is so frightened .....

Aaaaw bless him, let's hope he is a lot more comfortable now.

Did you see the Aussie vet Charlie? He is brilliant with the buns and certainly knows his stuff, there is also another new vet at the main branch called Edda, she is like a walking google on rabbits and is also an exotics specialist.
