We no longer have a vet!

Hugo's There

Wise Old Thumper
Not sure what we are going to do

Jen left 10 days ago, she was the best bunny vet at the practice and isn't being replaced. The other good one has been on maternity leave since November. We have just found out the only other good vet is off sick now for at least 6 weeks, probably longer. There is no one left for our rabbits to see.

There is a new vet out of college who we don't like, the other one isn't very rabbit knowledgable and the senior vet is allergic to rabbits so can't treat them

we area long drive from you adn there is prob someone closer but (1hour drive or just over i think) nicola at the slough branch here is very good hope yuou find someone closer. xxx

The problem is my vet are at the end of the road a less than two minute walk so very good for emergencies, which we seem to have plenty of :)

thats true! (unfortunatly) maybe tehre is one who is close enough but not too far? good luck with the hunt for a vet! what a trauma it must be for you x

call those vets who have left and ask them as to what to do.

Jen the best vet has moved to Bedford which is to far for us to go.

The others are either sick or on maternity leave :?

I have spent the day looking at different vets but can't find anywhere I consider good enough or close enough. As many of our buns are elderly or have disabilities we don't want them to travel too far, it also means we have a lot of home visits too.

Any recommendations of vets round the dunstable area would be greatly appreciated :)

Don't have any recommendations, but can imagine how you feel. If we lost any of our vets I would be so upset. I know some will move on as they are all young, but as long as we don't lose them all at the same time.

Thats aweful, I wrote to my vets in Sheffield and asked them what they were doing to up date their knowledge in treating rabbits etc
they invited me to join them at several training days held at nottingham vet school , the vets should be willing to show you how and what they are doing to provide specialised care for the bunnies if not write to RCOVS .
