Bonnie's Eye as prolapsed (UPDATE 13-49 Bad News)

Wise Old Thumper
My poor baby girl Bonnie (french lop) is in the vets, I had to rush her down this morning as when i went to feed her her eye was pertruding and the third eyelid looked swollen. She is now waiting to see if they can put it back in or they may have to remove it. She is just 1yr old:(.
Please send her loads of vibes:cry:

Vet as just phoned not good, looks like her partner as kicked her with his back legs and caught her eye and as damaged it. They have just stapled the eye lid shut to keep eye in place until she is going for surgery this afternoon. They don't want to do it straight away as he thinks she needs more fluids and food in her gut as he suspects she hasn't eaten since this as happened which was overnight.
My poor baby girl:(

They are removing it this aftrernoon, The eye specialist vet said with the damage she as already lost the sight in it:cry:

Yes. sometime you can save the eye itself, but not the sight.
I'm sure she'll feel much better once it's removed.
I hope she makes a speedy recovery xx

The eye itself as also ulcerated so it is better for her for it to be removed:cry:
Cannot believe this as happened as both her and her partner are so laid back it's untrue and in my whole life of keeping rabbits i have never seen anything like this before.

best of luck to her & fingers crossed. We had gustaf who had to have his eye removed. His was very badly infected & burst during surgery but he pulled through & has gone on to find a lovely new home....the fur grew back over his eye quite well & you hardly notice it now.
