  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
I have just homed 3 new bunnies a mum aged 4, son aged 1 and her baby 8 weeks old the only trouble is the mum is being really nasty to her baby chasing it all about the enclosure and they are living freely in a large shed so they have loads of space. i dont think she is letting her eat all she does is hide in the corners all the time when she moves her mum runs after her. I have only had these since wednesday but i am worried what to do. (shall i buy a new hutch today for the baby????) or will they be ok please any advice would be greatly appreciated.:(

Is the mum spayed? she may be rejecting the baby because she feels it is time to have a new litter.
Otherwise, you may need some help with rebonding. Lots of rescues will help you with this for a donation. In the meantime, I would probably put the baby in a cage or puppy crate inside the enclosure to give it time to recover from the stress and get some food.
