  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Snowballs Ears...

now im not sure if this is the right place to put this... snowball is meant to be a dwarf lop.... now both is ears were up when we brought him one flopped after a week and i looked around and it said by 4 months they both should flop... well snowball is gettin on for 6 months and its showing no signs of dropping and he still sticks his other ear up completely straight which iv never seen a lop do before... just a bit confuddled.... is it possible hes a mix between a lop and a uppy eared breed lol? theres nothing wrong with his health like and hes happy as larry... he just looks a bit doppy like that lol... and iv been looking at pics of baby lops that aint even 10 weeks old yet and both there ears are down... and my old rabbit was a lop and both his ears were down by about 10 weeks.... my odd ikkle snowball

I have a friend who has a bunny who was ment to be a lop.He is four now and has one lop ear and one sticking up ear.

I think if he was going to lop he would have done so by now but then again some buns "helicopter" for ages & then decide which way to go. These guys are now about 6 months (not in the photo, much younger then) & seem to be stuck in the take off position. I don't think they will ever lop but are definately not uppies either. It doesn't seem to cause them any problems.
