Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

fur loss after neuter?

gil

Bailey was neutered 4 weeks ago but in the last week i've noticed that he is losing fur round the eyes. he's fine otherwise, eating etc. i spoke to the vet and there is the suggestion that the fur loss could be hormonal or stress. does anyone have any experience of this? once his hormones have decreased he will be bonded with Lola who is currently in a cage next to him. they have been getting on well as lola has been grooming him thro' the bars of the cage! she has no problems with her fur as the vet also suggested mites!
any advice would be great!
thanks

Could Lola be over-grooming him through the cage bars ?

I have had Buns who over-groom their partners eyes and nibble away all the fur and eyelashes aswell as their whiskers

Hormonal or stress related furloss can also occur.

thanks Jane, will be keeping an eye on him and Lola! can't wait to get these 2 bonded properly but Bailey is still getting excited even after his neuter 4 weeks ago! yesterday was spent, as it was a dry day, doing joinery work on the run outside to accommodate these 2!
