  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
i lost my bunny pongo on wednesday "suddenly" he was a continental giant and lived indoors. it was such a shock and i am still in pieces over him i only had him 6 months, i would like to get another one but my other half is to worried as he said for a large animal to lose like this was horrible. but do rabbits die like this a lot i don't think i would like to go through this again. he had a great personality chasing me everywhere for toast and bits and when my other half came home from work he used to jump straight up on his lap to feed him treats and cuddles. :(

So sorry to hear of your loss,do you have any idea why he died, was he vaccinated? Give yourself time to grieve for him and see how you feel in a week or 2 [bunnies are addictive]

I am so sorry for your loss. Without doing a post mortem, its very hard to know. Was he vaccinated and was he eating and pooing okay up to losing him? Whenever one loses a bunny, its natural to think was there anything that could have been done to prevent it, Bunnies can live ten years and one can also lose them before their time, its hard.

In time, you might think of getting another bunny. It might be wise not to purchase from the same place and eliminate one risk factor.

Hi - I've just read both of your posts ... I'm so sad for you, you must be feeling awful. Please get another bunny asap, as you know they're such wonderful house pets. I hope you're feeling better soon. xx :(
