Is is soft and fast or hard and slow that indicates pain?

Neither particularly - I've seen both types for both - it depends on the context...is the bun sitting in an unusual posture, squinty eyes, looking uncomfortable, not wanting to eat or interact, or is the bun happy and relaxed, being tickled and enjoying it?

She's sitting in her usual spot on the corner of the windowsill looking fairly relaxed, i have noticed her doing it a few times up there. She does it softly but fast so it's like a humming sound. She is fine otherwise though - bright as a button.

Might just be comfy then - try offering her a little piece of something tasty and see if she shows interest
