  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help please - Maybe a poorly bunny :(

I have an indoor bunny called Bruno, he is normally quite scatty and doesnt really like to be stroked. And has only just started to approach us.

He looks very uncomfortable on his back legs and seems he is pushing his bum out a bit, as far as possible. He doesnt want to eat, but has normal wee and poo!

He is also shutting his eyes alot and letting me stroke him. Maybe he is in pain? Breathing quite heavily.

I picked him up and checked under his back legs, but i cant find nothing wrong. Felt his back legs and he didnt feel uncomfy. :S

Im a little worried as he isnt himself. Any ideas what this could be?

Could he have injured his back/hind legs ?
It sounds as though he is in pain and I would contact a Vet for advice as he probably needs to be examined and would definately benefit from Pain relief.

He was binkying around fine earlier..

And now he has just turned like it, no reason at all.

He ran around the front room about an hour ago and now I just found him flonked in his cage and as soon as he moved he laid striaght down again a little uncomfy.

Do you think it could be wind?
Im massaging his belly and he is sitting still for me.. and laid down, whereas if he was in pain he would normally run off?

Its impossible to say what is wrong but it sounds as though he has pain and it may not necessarily be in his stomach.
As I said in my previous posts I would contact a Vet as your Rabbit may need pain relief.

Well I may have sorted it. Sat him on my lap for about half hour and massaged his belly..

He is now up and about and running :) So im hoping it was wind :)
Fingers crossed
