  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

They sound like a good idea. When I was dressing Barlies paw with manuka honey the dressing usd to get so slippery and It was a job and a half just trying to stop the dressing moving around the paw while trying applying the bandage

Ever tried Allevyn thin, you can sitck it directly to the wound its self adhering or can be used in combination with other dressings.

The dressings arrived !!
I only need to use a tiny piece so they should last ages. Just aswell really at that price :?

They certainly smell very Honeyfied

Well the dressings appear to be staying on well. Here are a few pics:

The Dressing itself. As you can see one dressing will go a long way as just a slither is required each day

It is held in place by a waterproof but 'breathable' blister plaster. Minimun contact is made between plaster and fur as I dont want even more furloss in the hock area.

Its all held in place with some micropore tape. This appears to only pull a tiny amount of fur away on removal. However I may use a cohesive bandage as of tomorrow to make sure that too much fur loss does not occur.

Its just that Sir Victor will leave micropore alone. Its the bandages he likes to nibble ................
