  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I was stroking under my bunnys dewlap(which is VERY thick) and I could feel someting hard so I caught my bunny and me and my mum looked.

Was abit worried really are they teats???

She had more than one all over her body (underneath) and they were crusty!

Is this normal???

I would get them checked by a vet as teats shouldn't be crusty! Is she spayed? If not I would get her done as she is very likely to have problems otherwise. Uterine tumours are common in unspayed does and mammary tumours are a possibility. It's also possible that she is having a false pregnancy and may be producing milk or she may have mastitis. Either way, best get her checked by a vet :)

only to follow lilbuns. teats shouldn't be crusty, I would have though unlikely in a non lactating doe but she might have something like mastitis which would only be cleared up with anti biotics...if her dewlap is big she might have a fungal infection...either way a general rule of thumb with bunnies is that it is always a good idea to seek vets advice. Only they can give you a full & proper diagnosis.

Have you taken your bun to a vet yet? there isn't any other advice that would be sensible until you've done that
