  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny with hay allergy?

I think that my Julie is allergic to hay. I had her to the vet several times to check her because she always sneezes. The Vet said that she is most likely allergic to hay. My hubby says that she is allergic to rabbits. Allergic to herself? She mostly sneezes when she eats her hay. I have tried all different ones but it makes not difference.

using a spray bottle ,spray hay with water just before feeding. do not soak or drench the hay tho as it will make your bunny ill. it helps abit by dampening the dust / allergens etc. hay cookies are less dusty too x:wave:

Really?
In the summer when it gets hot i usually spray ice cold water on my bunnies hay (in a litter tray) and they love it, keeps them really cool! If its not a good idea i wont do it but they enjoy it!

it doesn't matter if the hay they are eating today get wets, it is just that you don't want a bale sitting around damp as it may get musty and mouldy....as long as you clear them out often misting hay is not a problem.
