  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Too much calcium?

Mr Cookie Bun

Mama Doe
 Before I put the bunnies out this morning, I checked their runs and Sooty's run had dried pee in it. It looks like someones poured white paint on the slab  Am I right in thinking that I'm feeding her too much calcium?

Hi yes this is an indication of to much calcium.I would keep an eye on her urine and cut back on calcium rich veg.If it persists It would be and idea to get her checked out for bladder sludge

what's the veggie that you feed them with that is so rich in Ca?

 My niece was "helping" feed the bunnies a couple of days ago - she tipped a full bag of curly kale into Sooty's run (Sooty was eating it quicker than I could pick it up) For the next few days I won't give her anything containing calcium to make sure that's what caused it.

i have had this happen after giving fresh veg what is calcium rich veg ,they helped themselves to carrots we were growing ,wonder if it is this
