  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Just found out Mimi had molar spurs and an abcess :-(

As I posted before I found a lump on Mimi's back after her spaying operation.

Took her to the vet tonight and they said it is an abcess, she is booked in tomorrow to have it removed :(

They also weighed her while we there, and says she has lost 200g in the past 3 weeks, checked her teeth and she had spurs...I feel bad for not realisng, I don't know how long she has been like this, and I hate to think she is in pain.

The vet has now removed them, and said that hopefully if she is eating enough hay every day they wont come back.

She has been through so much over the past moonth, spaying, abcess removal tomorrow and now this with her teeth, is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable?

Any spare vibes?

Vibes on the way to you.

My bun shadow gets spurs constantly, i only noticed when she stopped eating and had blood round her mouth where she had bit her tongue, they hide the pain too well and i felt awful but there is no way of knowing as i cant see in her mouth to look at the back ones!

I think once they start the teeth always grow in the wrong way and its an ongoing problem. She goes in every two months to get them burred but she still sometimes catches her tongue or cheek and starts dribbling. Cant do anything bout it cept encourage more hay eating and regular check ups.

Hope Mimi gets better soon :)
