mites/lice AND flea discovery :(

I've started to buy farm hay for my pigs and bunnies as they seem to prefer it to the shop bought stuff but after spotting what could be lice and a flea :shock: in their fur I'm wondering where these critters have come from.

I know that lice and mites can be carried in hay but can fleas too?

It's possible if the farm has cats or dogs which have access to the hay, but the chances are pretty low.

It's entirely possible the fleas could have come in the hay, probably as eggs, especially if the farm has cats. Other possible culprits are hedgehogs or the neighbours cat. Make sure you keep your buns vaccinations up to date in any case because they can spread disease

Not sure about the flea, but my buns contracted lice when I started using p@h hay for bedding :?
