Young Bun
Hello

I was just wondering if anyone had taken their buns to see Frances Harcourt Brown? Holly has been referred for her abcess and we have an appointment on Thursday, was just wondering what to expect really?!

Thanks

You have a very lucky bunny! I've never been referred to see her but she has been consulted via fax & phone through two of my vets for a few of my bunnies over the past couple of years, and the advice she gave was first class. :D

Good Luck

She's wonderful I can't recommend her highly enough

My bunnies haven't been referred, I just took them there because of her reputation.

Obviously her knowledge speaks for itself but the place feels 'ordinary' and relaxing when you get there (I expected to feel out of my depth, and that I'd feel silly for not knowing enough :roll:). She is lovely, she won't go over your head with technical terms, she explain things really well, listens carefully to questions and concerns and has never rushed anything.

She examined one of my bunnies that a previous vet said would need to be sedated to examine properly (from a neglect background) but FHB handled her with ease and Tinks remained calm thoroughout, she didn't get the opportunity to struggle so stayed calm. I just think this kind of thing speaks volumes.

I agree with this. Frances was my regular vet for over four years. She is a really nice person. She is very friendly and talks to you and never down to you. She has the expert knowledge but also ready to talk about all aspects of rabbit care, however silly or trivial you think the question is. She also has a sense of humour - referring to my Kellogg as "The chunky fellow with the good teeth" I don't know what she meant

i have never personally met ehr however she is a legend aamoung rabbit vets as her knowledge is tip top and she is considered if not the one of the best rabbit vets around. i know jason a tip top rabbit vet himself has consulted with her in the paast on difficult cases! x

My Herbie was referred to Frances Harcourt Brown. He has congenital dental disease which worsened drastically a year ago, at which point he was referred to Frances.

She is wonderful and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She listens very carefully to everything you say and she takes the time to explain everything thoroughly in a way that you can understand. At no time did I feel rushed.

Holly is a lucky bun to be seeing such a knowledgeable vet.:D

She is amazing - One of our customers took their rabbits to see her after they ate a painted deckchair in their garden and landed up with Lead Poisoning. Almost £2000 later both buns were better than they had ever been:D

Hello
It was my rabbit, Knightrider, that when to FHB when he ate a deckchair. In all fairness, it did not cost 2 grand for that. I think it cost about £400 for that episode. He is a high maintenance rabbit though as he recently had a second bout of gastric stasis which involved 2 ops and a 4 day stay! I have spent a fortune on him and Wonderwoman on vet fees but FHB is a great vet with great expertise. I think her fees are very fair and no more than other vets. Would strongly recommend her.

Charlie got fixed!!

I have a 3 legged "Bunny" named Charlie. He had previously had a leg amputated locally following a day out in the fields with the locals!! (We have a farm and Charlie, who is a house rabbit used to pop out during the day and socialise!) He came back one dusk holding his front leg and it was taken off!

Last Feb (2010), I had customers in my office, where Charlie lives and looks after my comoputer, etc., I went down and left a door open which allowed Ruby, our new rescue dog to get up to Charlie. He scarpered and whilst Ruby did not actually touch him, in trying to run so quickly with only three legs, he broke the other front one!

Local vets referred us to Francis! She was absolutely fantastic and repaired a terrible break. Mr Harcourt-Brown actually performed the surgery, which included plates, pins and a retaining brace! Charlie stayed in "hospital" a couple of weeks and then had to be returned for another 2 days to have all the pins removed.

One year on, he is happy, runs around as if nothing had ever happened to him and really enjoys life to the full, all thanks to Francis, her husband and fantastic nursing staff!

Cannot recommend them enough....any "bunny problems", get off to Harrogate!
