Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lump on bunny

Scamps Mummy

Young Bun
We discovered a lump on the belly of our four month old girl rabbit tonight, we tried to contact our vet but was closed by the time we found it. Does anyone have any ideas please? Its hard not to think of anything nasty

pleaae please rush her to emergency vets never delay something like this....

has she been spayed?

have you seen the vets with her yet?

i tmay be an abscess. You will need to get the vet to check it out & sooner rather than later as they can grow very quickly & can be tricky to treat. The sooner you nip it in the bud the better.

the things i can think of are abcess, tuour(both benign or cancerous) hernia myxi a bite from something... a tiny lump could be a nipple? x

Thanks for advice - we've booked her in for vets at 5.30 today - she's so young so we're hoping for the best. She's a house rabbit and has had all her jabs. We're getting her spayed as soon as she's old enough

Hi there

Took Chloe to vets and she has an inflamed nipple - vet doesn't seem to think its a tumour but recommends we get her spayed - she's only 4 months old, they don't normally spay until 6 months. They will look at imflammation then to make sure

Thanks for all your help and concern x
