  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Pet insurance for rabbits

Not many places insure bunnies :? Petplan do :)

How old is your bunny?? Remember, if they have any existing health problems they wont pay out for them :? xXx

Daisy is insured with petplan - it costs us £9 a month with an excess of £50. I haven't made a claim yet, but from what I've read of other people's experiences on here the general opinion seem fairly positive about petplan.

Pet Insurance

Hi,

I have signed up for Petplan for my giant house rabbit and it costs me £12.25 a month for life cover.

My vet recommended them to me so I am sure they are good.

Petplan is really the only place that do proper bun health cover and are the best to go to. Vets usually set you up with a 6 week free trial and then you just need to renew it. It's well worth having. But it's true, if your bun has existing health problems (documented by a vet) then they won't pay out for them at any point but anything else, including injuries they will cover.
