rabbit snuffles contagious to guinea pigs?

hiya,

does anyone know if rabbit snuffles are contagious to guinea pigs?

my rabbits have snuffles but i have my their old cage that i want to sell but obviously i don't want any other animal to get snuffles from the cage.

the cage has always been cleaned daily with wetwipes and cleaned thoroughly weekly so it is very clean.

my rabbits hardly used it and haven't used it for about six weeks now as they have a new cage.:D

i thought if i sold the cage for guinea pigs then this might be ok. i don't want to risk seling it for a rabbit just incase.

let me know!

Yes, some Rabbit respiratory tract infections are contageous to GPs and can be fatal :cry:

Which is why the two species should not be housed in close proximity

ok, so would you sell the cage if it's been away from the rabbits for ages and has been repeatedly disinfected?

Hi, I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and had advice given to - jet wash the hutch, disinfect and to scald it out with boiling water. Sorry don't know how to show you link to that thread but you could find it by searching for "Reusing a rabbit hutch".

ok, thanks. i've read your post and replies so i'll try all the things it mentions and it should be ok hopefully. thank you! :)
