  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi guys please help I am so worried about my female rabbit ruby. Last night I was watching TV and could hear strange gurgling noises coming from her stomache. I didnt think anything of it but today when she was out of the cage I noticed she has a lot of poo stuck to her bottom and I know this sounds disgusting but she managed to smear it on my wall :( I think she has the runs and she is in a mess. She seems ok but I think she is drinking more! What is happening?

Thanks,

Vicky

I'd pop her to the vet to be honest, so she can have a good check up.

Has she had any food that's different to her? Or any teeth problems?

No i try and stick her to her normal food and she always has plenty oh hay and fresh water. As far as I am aware her teeth are fine. SHe is a house rabbit and can be naughty sometimes she chews bits off a wooden flower display I have near the fireplace. Her poo seems a black colour could I possible be missing something from her diet?
